Butterflies, birds and even bats fly free among the exotic vegetation of the tropical halls of Lakeland's Wildlife Discovery Centre. Situated in Hale in Cumbria the centre takes you on an interactive and educational tour of the entire animal kingdom using its own unique mix of wild animals from around the world and imaginative "hands-on" displays. Design your own mammal using an interactive computer game or your own insect by rolling a ball through the "bugatelle". Make yourself a souvenir fossil rubbing or follow the ink stamps through the Evolution Trail. The tropical hall and butterfly house are ideal venues for those wet days, and their friendly staff are always on hand to answer your queries and to let you meet some of the inhabitants face-to-face. Sunny days are appreciated by many of the inhabitants though, the lemurs and monkeys being particularly keen sunbathers. The Oasis is an all-weather attraction.
