Spend a Weekend in Dartmouth
The Port of Dartmouth is situated in beautiful South Devon known as South Hams. Dartmouth is a thriving, bustling town that has strong links with both the naval profession and the yachting communities. Dartmouth Castle guards the entrance to the harbour and from here you can walk along the South Devon Coast Path, where you can discover magnificent views, quiet unspoilt coves and beaches. Most of the lower town is a Conservation Area, with many historic buildings, narrow winding streets, ancient buildings and all steeped in history. The town has a variety of individual shops, art galleries, pubs, bars and nationally acclaimed restaurants. Take the steam train, or one of many boat trips to discover the river Dart, seeing cormorants, herons, egrets and even seals in the river on the way. Take the ferry from Dittisham, just up river, across to Greenway, home of famous author Agatha Christie and now owned by the National Trust. Dartmouth is also an ideal location to be based to explore nearby Dartmoor with all its natural beauty.
